About

Damien Kuntz (*1997, FR) discovered music at the age of 6. Starting with classical percussion, he later transitioned to drums and delved into jazz and improvised music.

In 2020, he relocated to Bern for further studies at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB), where he graduated both in Music Performance and Contemporary Jazz Composition.

Damien is an artist of multiple facets, known for his captivating performances and improvisations. His music reflects a rich tapestry of diverse influences, mainly from Jazz, improvised music and contemporary classical.

He has composed for his own piano trio (Daniel Hernandez, Loïc Baillod), as well as newer project such as his duo Forward Vagabonds with vocalist Ruiqi Wang.

Over the past years, he has been involved in multiple projects. He has shared the stage with artists such as Daniel Hernandez, Anna Kalk, Stefan Schultze or Ingrid Laubrock; and has been featured on several recordings, the latest being Dualité Cohérente (Unit Records, 2023) with the experimental guitar trio Noblique.
